Welcome to my musical world ... a few words about me  ...

So, I'm a Composer-Musician (and Singer) from Brittany (the western, celtic and formerly independent part of France...) ; music is a whole to me (my interest as a music lover and as a creator is creative excellence, over "labels" or "styles" classification ; it can be found in a very catchy inventive pop song as much as in a long and complex progressive suite ...) and my creativity follows this trend ; fertile (...too much...sometimes...) and very eclectic, even if my "style" is often quite recognizable. Anyway, my two main fields of influences developed in the lands of Celtic music (my culture...) and Progressive music... The artist who initially inspired me the most was probably Mike Oldfield, for the genius of his diversity and the originality of his inspired inventivity in multi genre crossover, and among my other favorite and/or influencing artists through the years (let's call them "references"), the first ones are Yes (and members solo careers), Genesis (idem), Saga, Jethro Tull, BJH, etc... but also Alan Stivell (the musical legend of my homeland, progressive reinvention of celtic music) and his former guitarist Dan Ar Braz ; more recently, in this field, Stone Age, ...and a large number of other things from Vangelis to Dream Theater, from Mozart to Pekka Pohjola, from Joe Jackson to Ethiopian pop...

A short summary of my released work so far, from which you can listen to mp3 extracts, in  the Discography pages ...

After years of demo recordings without the luck to get a real deal with  a record company (and not touring neither...) I decided to self-produce my first CD, and this is what I did, in 1995/96, recording everything in my modest home studio and only getting a limited distribution ... but quite good reviews !
In this album, called "Opus 1", I wanted to develop different aspects of my creativity, in a quite sophisticated and eclectic way, but always on a very melodic approach. So there stand "commercial" short songs, instrumental music, including a solo piano composition, and more clearly "progressive rock" stuff (i'm still rather proud of the final "Down to this Material World", a 17 min long epic track, for example).

This album is sold out now ... and i have planned to re-make it from the original files, using my new tools...

Between 1996 and 2002 : well...  long periods of morally difficult time after the lack of interest and perspectives from record companies (despite good reviews, and some interesting contacts) after what I considered as a good presentation of an important potential ; then the need to find a new "normal" job,  along with big personal changes : I got two (wonderful) sons with my Abyssinian girlfriend, who became my wife, had a house built (with a bigger, and more descent room for my Home Studio !...), and got involved in the "Carabosse" projects, as explained below:

The project of the second album, "Gwen Menez", a fully instrumental album, released in 2002, featuring the music I composed for a serial of  big open-air light-shows based upon local Celtic legends, between 1998 and 2002, "where progressive and symphonic influences meet Celtic roots for a timeless musical journey from Brittany...", finds its very origin in the contacts I got after "Opus 1" : Writer André Lécossois was then also journalist in a cultural magazine; he loved my music and interviewed me for a review and a full article...  Once again, I was so lucky that...the magazine just stopped its publication the next month, and the issue featuring the article has then never been released... But anyway, we kept in touch and became friends. Some time later, in 1998, he got involved, as a scenarist and co-director, in the "Carabosse" projects, and asked my if I would be interested in composing the music for these shows (see above)...sure I was ! (it stupidly ended in 2002, for obscure reasons ...(lucky again...)...just before the release of my CD... and I counted on the TV and press cover of the event to promote my album...).
Again, I got good reviews but great disappointment about the way it's been distributed...

Here I am, discographicaly speaking, and with now tons of great ideas, in many different kind of music, stored over the years, ready to be developed and exploited; loads of new compositions in progress... and need for more time, money and luck ...
